SCHEDULE A TEST DRIVE

Overview

In the long-running fight for full-size pickup truck supremacy, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 comes out on top. Perhaps it’s due to the sheer amount of choices the Silverado gives you. Not only do you get nine trims to choose from, but you can also pick from three cab styles and three bed configurations depending on trim level. Spice things up with the Midnight Edition package, which adds blacked-out exterior trim and badging for a more menacing appearance.

Anyone who wants a solid full-size truck with awe-inspiring capability and performance. Whether you’re always at the worksite, on the open road, or out in the wilderness, there’s a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 that neatly fits into your niche. The available Multi-Flex tailgate offers incredible flexibility and convenience. You’ll get six different tailgate functions that help enhance bed access and increase overall usability. The High Country trim adds Super Cruise, which adds hands-free driver assistance technology to your everyday commute. There are also eight available cameras with up to 14 views, making it easier to hook up, maneuver, and park trailers.

Real World Performance

When it comes to variety under the hood, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has it in spades. The 2.7-liter TurboMax serves as a surprisingly capable standard engine. Rated at a stout 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, the TurboMax delivers both impressive performance and fuel economy. The 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 engines offer available V8 power to traditional truck buyers, boasting 355 and 420 horsepower, respectively. If you crave diesel power in a light-duty pickup truck package, there’s the available 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel engine. With 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque on tap, this engine lets the Silverado 1500 live up to its 13,300-pound towing capacity when properly equipped.

While most trims can be optioned with the Z71 Off-Road Package, the Custom Trail Boss and LT Trail Boss trims let you make the most of it with a few additional goodies. Not only do you get a 2-inch factory lift, a 2-speed transfer case, and an automatic locking rear differential, but you’ll also get Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac® MT tires wrapped around 18-inch gloss black wheels. For the ultimate off-roading experience, however, you’ll want to pick the ZR2. It has Multimatic DSSV™ dampers, electronic lockers on all wheels, 33-inch mud/terrain tires, and a front bumper designed with approach and departure angles in mind. Upgrade to the ZR2 Bison Edition and the Silverado 1500 gains unique bumpers, upgraded differentials, and a fuel tank skid plate.
